Professor Emeritus of Technology William David Graham (June 10, 1931-), was born in Newark, New Jersey. He was graduated from Clifford J. Scott High School in 1950 and received his A.B. (1959) and M.A. (1963) degrees in industrial arts education from Montclair State College, Montclair, New Jersey. He pursued his doctoral studies at Indiana University, Bloomington, receiving his Ed.D. degree in vocational education in 1972. Graham is married to Marie Dejohn Graham, and the couple has two sons: William D., Jr., and Jeffrey Scott. They also have three children: Sandra, Anna, and Benjamin Graham. Dr. Graham worked as a machine operator for several years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955, receiving field experience in the repair of mobile and fixed ground electronics communication equipment and in the development and installation of experimental and complex antenna systems. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. From 1959 to 1967, Graham was a teacher at Livingston High School, Livingston, New Jersey, developing and teaching electricity/electronics program area curricula. He was also involved in the development of a cooperative vocational work experience program. Dr. Graham was an assistant professor at Indiana State University from 1967 to 1970, and also served as a part-time instructor and consultant at Binford Junior High School in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1970, he co-authored Conceptual Electricity: An Introductory Laboratory Manual (Stipes Publishing Co.). Graham came to Appalachian State University in 1972 as an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial Arts and Technical Education. He was promoted to associate professor in 1976 and received tenure in 1977. He became a professor in 1980. Among his other activities, Dr. Graham served as a faculty marshal for commencement and was a member of the graduate council. Professional and business organizations with which he was affiliated include the American Vocational Association; Phi Delta Kappa; Epsilon Pi Tau; Monroe County Education Association; and Lions International.
