Interview with Hade Smith, April 1, 1973

Description

Hade Smith was born in Valle Crucis, North Carolina in 1920 where he was raised on a farm. Mr. Smith joined the armed service at 18 years of age and when he returned he did some odd jobs including building houses. He then became the chief magistrate of Watauga County.

Mr. Smith goes into detail about his career and tells stories about local crimes he had to deal with as magistrate. Mr. Smith also talks about the changes in the area and the incoming of new community members, changing its dynamics. He then goes into great detail about his hobby of woodworking and points out a specific game he made.
